What to Expect Following a DWI: Assessment, Classes, and Resources

A DWI in Charlotte can be an intimidating and overwhelming process to overcome on your own. New Beginnings wants to make a stressful process a little bit easier by giving you an idea of what you can expect following a DWI charge in North Carolina, and what services we offer to get you back on your feet and back on the road.

Step 1: DWI Assessment

Immediately following a DWI charge, you will be required to take a DWI Substance Abuse Assessment. The DWI Substance Abuse Assessment consists of an interview with a certified Substance Abuse Counselor, along with a short assessment questionnaire. You may find access to a DWI Substance Abuse Assessment only from licensed facilities within North Carolina; lucky for you, you’re in the right place (click here to schedule an appointment). New Beginnings offers administration of your DWI Assessment as a first step in the right direction.

Step 2: Find the Right Program Following Your DWI Assessment

Once you complete the DWI Assessment, you will be placed in a class and/or treatment program to learn and talk about the struggles and consequences of Driving While Impaired. If you need more specialized treatment involving alcoholism or addiction, we also can offer individualized counseling, group counseling, or a combination of both.

At New Beginnings, our goal is to treat you like a person instead of a number in the system. We not only want to get you back to your life, but also want to get to know you and understand the root of the problems you may be facing. Our certified counselors understand the importance of both a healthy mind and body in terms of your overall success on the road and in your life.

Step 3: File Your Paperwork and Get Back To Living Your Best Life

Once you have completed the allotted hours with your program plan, New Beginnings will handle and file all of your paperwork with the DMV and the Courts in the state of North Carolina. If you feel extra time outside of your program is beneficial to your recovery, we also provide group classes and sessions available to sign up for to continue to create the best you possible.

A DWI offense can seem like a long, scary process. We want you to know that we will handle your paperwork, stories, health, and wellbeing with the utmost care, and want to see you not only back on the road, but back to being yourself.
